Building a Place for Families in Greensburg: The Story of The Trendy Bunny
When I first set out to build The Trendy Bunny Boutique and Play Café to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, I knew I wasn’t just opening a business. My dream was to create a gathering place where families could slow down, children could explore freely, and parents could feel seen and supported. In the spring of 2019, I began transforming what was once a condemned basement into the space you know today. We became the very first play café in Greensburg, and from the very beginning, it’s been about more than coffee or play—it’s been about building community.
My inspiration came from time spent traveling in Europe with my family, where play cafés are in no short supply. I fell in love with the concept of spaces that blend imaginative play for children with cozy cafés for parents. It was during those travels that I knew I needed to bring something similar back home—but with my own twist. Combining my love for family-friendly spaces with my boutique background, The Trendy Bunny Boutique Play Café was born. I wanted it to be more than just a play space or a coffee shop. I wanted it to be a lifestyle—a place where children could grow, and parents could breathe.
As a mama of five boys, I know firsthand how important it is to have a safe, welcoming place for children to play and parents to rest. That’s why every corner of the Play Café was designed with intention. Unlike many play spaces that can feel overwhelming, we created an environment that’s calm, engaging, and inspiring. Soft lighting, a muted yet cheerful color palette, and thoughtfully designed play areas all work together to create a space where kids can truly focus on imaginative play—without the chaos and overstimulation that so many playrooms can bring.
At the Play Café, children can wander through playhouses, explore sensory toys, build with STEM blocks, and lose themselves in hands-on creative fun. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a latte, catch up with friends, or even sneak in a little work time—all while knowing their children are safe and happy. Trendy Bunny bridges the gap between a family-friendly coffee shop and an indoor play space, offering the best of both worlds.
We’ve also built flexibility into everything we do, because parenting doesn’t always go as planned. Our daily play passes are valid for the entire week, so if nap schedules or meltdowns get in the way, your visit isn’t wasted. And unlike many other play cafés across the country, there’s no time limit here—you’re welcome to stay and play all day if you’d like. Pair that with our monthly memberships, which include unlimited play during open hours and a free coffee or tea for parents, and you’ll see why so many families in Greensburg have made the Trendy Bunny part of their weekly routine.
As our little café grew busier each year, we saw another need in the community: a stylish, welcoming space for showers, celebrations, and gatherings. That vision came to life with our second location—The Trendy Bunny Event Café, right in the heart of Greensburg. During the week, it operates as a warm and cozy café and bakery, filled with freshly brewed coffee, pastries, and favorites our customers love. On the weekends, the space transforms into a beautiful event venue, hosting baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, and even micro weddings. It’s become a special extension of who we are, giving us the chance to not only serve families during their everyday routines, but also celebrate their biggest milestones.
And of course, no story about the Trendy Bunny would be complete without talking about birthday parties. Over the years, we’ve had the joy of hosting hundreds of children’s birthday parties at both our Play Café and Event Café. At the Play Café, little ones celebrate in a whimsical, playful space made just for them, while parents can relax knowing everything is taken care of. At the Event Café, families can opt for a more elegant setup—perfect for older kids, themed celebrations, or even mixing birthday fun with a café-style party for adults. We offer flexibility with setups, from cozy and casual to styled with linens, candles, and greenery, so every celebration feels unique. Whether you’re booking a simple playdate party or an elegant gathering, we love helping families create magical memories here in Greensburg.
